Our Puppy!

So as some of you may know my obsession with English Springer Spaniels began when Joel and I took our honeymoon to Ouray, Colorado last September. We saw a local walking this beautiful dog, and I couldn't help but ask about her. Since then, I have been researching the breed and trying to find a breeder; however, the search lead me far and away to California, Nevada, and even Utah. We even were in contact with Spaniel rescue associations, who wanted to visit our home and practically do a security clearance on us!

We decided then that a Springer might just be too difficult and too expensive, and decided to consider other breeds and get a dog later this year. Well, when I just happened to look at the classifieds this past Thursday I was surprised to see an add for English Springer Spaniel puppies! I immediately called the breeder, and on Friday we made the short drive to the East Mountains to look at the pups.

One female was especially friendly, playful, and precocious. She immediately came up to me and stayed by us almost the whole time we were there. We also had the opportunity to meet both the parents, who were perfect examples of Springers. I couldn't contain my excitement, and Joel quickly agreed to reserve our pup.

She is 9 weeks old and I can't wait to take her home on Monday!

At Last!

I can't believe it's already August! The summer is really flying by. This past weekend we finished our tiling project, at last! I like to say it was fun (the whole time, unlike Joel) but it definitely was well worth it. Thank you so much to my parents for the many long Saturdays and Sundays you spent working with us, we couldn't have done it without you!

Even Jane Cat likes the new tile
It was so nice to have everyone over and finally celebrate! We had a great time having our family over and thanks to everyone for the great contributions!

Next up is the kitchen counters and backyard, and we will hopefully be enlisting the help, err, free labor of our family again with my Aunt Colleen, a landscape architect. However, in the mean time I am looking forward to some relaxing and fun weekends…
