Confessions of a Year Old Springer Spaniel

Hi everyone, my mom Lisa asked me to write this post about all the things we've been up to this summer! First and most importantly, on June 15, I turned one year old! Those of you that knew me back when I was a baby can see I've matured a lot since then. I was a mere 8 weeks old when I went home to live with the best parents a pup could ask for, not to mention a sister, who is black and white just like me.When they first came to get me, I was the most energetic little pup there, and they say they picked me because I was so friendly and cheerful. They say I cried the whole way home, but soon I was excited for my new home. After calling me "puppy" for a few days, my new parents named me Vesper, a classy little lady who was also the true love of James Bond in the first book of the series. A Vesper is also a martini, which the parents drank a lot of in my first few days home. Here's a few of my baby pics

I knew how to read at only 10 weeks old!
Now that I'm a year old I'm a full grown girl, weighting in at 42 pounds (my goal weight) and about 18 inches tall.  My coat has filled in and I have full feathers on my legs, which my Mom uses to torture me by brushing them. My Dad says I have helicopter ears, though I'm not really sure what that means, but it sure is fun to get them wet every time I drink from my water bowl. My Mom says I'm perfect, and that when I get a little older I can be a show dog. I don't know if that would be as fun as chasing birds and getting into the brush, but I love my Mommy and Daddy so much I'll pretty much do anything for them.

I have to say I've learned a lot about life this first year. I've learned that I have a great home, especially since it comes with a built-in playmate, although Jane's idea of playing with me is scratching me when I get too close. When the parents aren't looking we do like to lay together, and my Mom managed to catch this shot.

My favorite toy with claws, Jane Cat

Well, I should probably go, it's almost time for my walk and then I plan on following my Mom all around the kitchen while she tries to make dinner, or jump in my pool for a quick swim and then roll around in the dirt. Stay tuned for my next post all about my birthday party!

Woofs and Licks,
Vesper
